Motorbike Instructor Training Exams
As
mentioned throughout this web-site to become
a fully qualified motorbike instructor you
must take and pass two exams conducted by
the DSA at Cardington.
CBT Assessment
This
assessment is not designed to train people
to become instructors this must already have
been done. The assessment lasts for
two days and its purpose is to assess if a
person has the instructional ability to
become a DSA Certified Motorcycle Instructor
to enable them to conduct CBT's and be able
to train and supervise other instructors
within their own organisation.
This exam
not only assesses your teaching ability to
conduct CBT's, but also your supervisory
ability. You must pass both parts of
this exam and you will be advised on the day
if you have been successful. If you
fail one part you will have to re-take the
whole exam. If you fail this exam
twice you will not be able to apply to
re-take the exam again until one year after
the date of the 2nd assessment.
DAS
Assessment
As with
the CBT Assessment this is not designed to
train people to become instructors this must
already have been done. The assessment
lasts for half a day and is run on a
one-to-one basis. You can only take
the DAS Assessment if you have already
passed the two-day CBT Assessment.
Their are three parts to this exam, the
first part is An Introduction to a Bigger
Bike. The second part is On site
handling, where you will be given set tasks
to teach. The third part is on-road
training and you are given three scenarios
and you have to identify the learners faults
and correct them. Each part will last
around 30 minutes, your examiner will
control the times. At the end of this
exam you will be de-briefed by the examiner
and advised if you have passed or
failed.
